IBISAR

Service for real-time data ranking in the IBI area
for emergency responders and SAR operators.

How can we improve emergency response at sea?

  • IBISAR facilitates decision-making to Search and Rescue (SAR) operators and emergency responders.

  • IBISAR allows to identify the most accurate ocean current prediction in near-real time in the Iberian-Biscay-Irish (IBI) regional seas.

  • IBISAR contributes to maintain our seas and coasts safe and clean.

IBISAR helps to:

  • Improve Search and Rescue and pollution control operations

    Minimize response time

    Optimize search area planning

    Allocate resources effectively

USEFULNESS OF THE COPERNICUS MARINE SERVICE

The Copernicus Marine Service plays a key role because it provides:

  • A single access point to a wide variety of data, which helps save time.

  • The access to different current predictions in the Iberian-Biscay-Irish regional seas.

  • The initial and boundary conditions to the coastal and regional models of the complementary datasets.

  • Near-real time observations for model data assimilation and validation.

Finally, this information is used in IBISAR to evaluate the performance of every model available in the Iberian-Biscay-Irish regional seas.

FACTS & NUMBERS

  • Effective response to emergencies at sea needs reliable observations and predictions.

  • The Copernicus Marine Service allows the access to a wide variety of data.

  • The key over-arching concern of the users is to know which prediction is the most accurate.

  • SAR operators need user-friendly automated system to evaluate the performance of the different predictions..
